Worthing Pier Closure Extended Due to Storm Damage
October 17, 2024
Worthing Pier may stay closed until late November after engineers found storm damage to one of its underside supports during a routine inspection on 10 October.
Alex Coombs, owner of the Perch on the Pier restaurant, told the BBC that the temporary solution proposed by the council would not be sufficient for a full reopening. Worthing Borough Council, responsible for the pier, has not yet commented.
The closure has also led The Tern restaurant to temporarily relocate to Littlehampton. In addition, watercraft, including boats and paddleboards, are banned from passing beneath the pier until repairs are completed.
