Worthing Pier Eastern Entrance Closed for Timber Decking Repairs

Worthing Pier’s eastern entrance has been closed to the public as maintenance work begins on replacing a section of its timber decking. Worthing Borough Council has confirmed the project is expected to take around eight weeks.

The council announced that scaffolding is being installed beneath the structure to facilitate the repairs, which are funded through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund. The decking is being replaced as part of routine maintenance, ensuring the pier remains safe and in good condition for visitors. The council replaces sections of the timber decking approximately every 25 years to maintain structural integrity.

During the works, the eastern entrance and affected areas of the pier will be fenced off, but access will still be available from the western side. Worthing Borough Council has stated that updates will be provided throughout the project, alongside plans for a wider initiative to protect the pier, lido, and other coastal heritage sites for future generations.
