Worthing Pier Maintenance Set to Begin with Timber Decking Replacement

Maintenance work is set to begin on Worthing Pier, with the replacement of older timber decking to ensure the safety of visitors.

Worthing Borough Council has announced that the project, funded by the UK Shared Prosperity Fund, will start in the coming weeks and take approximately eight weeks to complete.

The work will focus on replacing ageing timbers on the east side of the pier’s north end, between the entrance kiosk and the Denton Lounge. The council replaces pier timbers every 25 years to maintain the structure’s integrity. While the affected section will be fenced off, the pier will remain open from the west side throughout the project.

The council is also launching discussions on preserving the pier, the lido, and other heritage sites along the coastline for future generations. Regular updates on the maintenance work will be shared with the public as the project progresses.
