Worthing Pier Repairs Continue as Fenced-Off Area May Expand

Worthing Pier repairs are progressing as Worthing Borough Council warns that the fenced-off area may slightly extend into the promenade. The council aims to reopen the pier as soon as safety measures are complete.

Worthing Pier, closed since October 10 due to storm damage, is undergoing urgent repairs to restore its structure. Contractors have begun installing steel piles to support the pier, with daily progress updates shared by Worthing Borough Council. The council has stated its commitment to minimising disruption while ensuring public safety.

The initial phase of repairs has seen six steel piles installed, which will now be adjusted for the next stages of the structure’s reinforcement. Additional machinery and materials are set to arrive, potentially extending the fenced-off area further into the promenade. However, the majority of the promenade will remain accessible to the public.

The council is working to keep noise and disruption to a minimum while aiming to reopen the pier swiftly. Residents and visitors have been assured that progress is being made, with updates continuing as repairs advance towards completion.
