Worthing Pier Repairs Near Completion After Storm Damage
Repairs on Worthing Pier are nearing completion as scaffolding is installed to facilitate the final welding work, following delays caused by severe weather.
Contractors resumed work after Storm Bert subsided, with the council confirming that progress is now on track to reopen the pier soon.
Adur and Worthing Councils announced that scaffolding has been constructed to allow repairs to be completed from above, avoiding the need to rely on spring low tides. A temporary working platform is enabling welding to continue despite high tides, expediting the restoration timeline. Residents have been reminded to avoid construction areas for safety reasons.
Worthing Pier has been closed since October 10 due to storm damage. Regular inspections and maintenance are ongoing to ensure structural integrity, with additional minor repairs planned through December and January. The council anticipates reopening the pier promptly once the current phase of work is finished.
