Worthing Residents Invited to Share Views on New EV Chargepoints

Residents in Worthing and surrounding areas are being asked to provide feedback on new electric vehicle (EV) chargepoint locations as part of a consultation launched by West Sussex County Council.

The consultation, which runs from 4 September to 2 October 2024, aims to gather opinions on proposed chargepoints across 15 streets.

The initiative is part of the council’s ongoing efforts to support sustainable transport and reduce reliance on fossil fuels. Cllr Joy Dennis, Cabinet Member for Highways and Transport, highlighted that increasing access to chargepoints is essential for reducing carbon emissions and promoting the transition to electric vehicles, especially in areas with limited off-road parking. Locations for the proposed chargepoints have been selected based on public demand and areas identified with insufficient charging infrastructure.

Residents can contribute to the consultation online or by phone, with full details available on the council’s website. This phase of the EV chargepoint rollout aligns with the council’s broader climate strategy, which has already seen over 250 dual-socket chargepoints installed throughout West Sussex.
