Worthing Road Closure to Affect Access to Beauty Spot and Businesses

A key access road to Highdown Gardens, The Highdown pub and tea rooms, and nearby football pitches in Worthing will be temporarily closed on Tuesday, 25th February, for essential hedge maintenance.

Worthing Borough Council has announced that Highdown Rise will be shut between 8:30 am and 3:00 pm to allow the parks team to trim overgrown hedges near the entrance. The work is intended to improve visibility for vehicles entering and exiting the road onto the busy A259, as well as to ease traffic flow along the narrow stretch.

The council has informed the owners of The Highdown pub and tea rooms about the temporary closure and apologised for any inconvenience. Officials stated that the maintenance is being carried out now to avoid disrupting the upcoming bird nesting season, which runs from early spring to late summer.
