Worthing Petrol Station Applies for 24-Hour Operation

A Shell petrol station in Worthing has submitted an application to operate 24 hours a day.

The station, located on Sompting Avenue, is currently open from 6am until 11pm, but the proposed change would allow forecourt services to be available round the clock. A noise assessment found that the impact on the local area would be minimal, with noise levels at the “lowest observed level.”

The application, submitted on October 16, outlines that only forecourt services would be available during the extended hours, ruling out additional services such as car washing or valeting. The closest residential property is 13 metres from the petrol station, but the noise study indicated no significant disruption.

Worthing Borough Council is set to review the application, with a decision expected by December 11. If approved, the Shell station will be the latest business in the area to extend its operating hours in response to local demand.
