Worthing Tanning Salon Was Targeted With Violent Attacks before Fire

A Worthing tanning salon has been the target of three violent attacks, including an arson incident that led to the evacuation of nearby residents. CCTV footage reveals two masked men using a sledgehammer to vandalise the salon before coating equipment with bitumen paint.

The TanTastic salon on Broadwater Street West has faced repeated attacks since its opening in August, with the latest incident involving a fire that caused extensive damage and led to the evacuation of 40 residents.

Salon owner Peter Bills reported that intruders broke into the salon on September 30, destroying tanning beds and vandalising the premises with paint. The business was again attacked in mid-October, with windows shattered by an unknown weapon.

Sussex Police are treating the October 21 fire as arson, and a 61-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life. He has been released on conditional bail pending further investigation. Authorities are appealing to the public for information, and TanTastic has offered a £5,000 reward to assist in identifying those responsible for the attacks.
